The editor of Christianity Today is the same as Jeff Flake or Joe Walsh or David Jolly — only willing to take action when they no longer have to face the wrath of the Trump base. Perhaps his decision to retire was prompted by his disgust with the evangelical support for Trump — but that would prove only how corrupt white evangelicals are today and there is no doubt that he realizes this. He didn’t criticize Trump for his deeply non-Christian behavior earlier when it was on display for all to see.
