I may have something which bears on this. For years, when making fun of Bubba’s Shrimp Soliloquy in ‘Forrest Gump’, I thought I was reciting accurately when I said, ‘Bawled shree-ump. Fraahed shree-ump. Shree-umpmp Cree-awle. Shree-ump Aytoofay’.

However, the Older Boy recently watched the movie again, and told Mrs. BFBW, “My father LIED to me!” Apparently, Bubba never mentions Shrimp Etoufee. But I remember clearly him saying it.

I was convinced for years that I went on a roller coaster that I thought was a ride. It took my brother and a friend to convince me that it had all be a very vivid dream.
