Trump took the barely quiescent latent violence incubating within the GOP base and unleashed it, encouraged it and gave it license. It was always there though, intrinsic to and deep within the party, just waiting for someone to whip it up and give it targets it could sink it’s teeth into.

The thing is Cruz isn’t any better, he still has the same target list of ethnic and religious others, he’s just slightly more covert about how he goes about encouraging hatred.

It was already there five years ago. But in that instance, West only used the bikers to intimidate a liberal, not physically attack him.

But I’m sure that if West had given the go, the bikers would have been more than happy to oblige.
