You know what causes this shift?

Republicans screaming toward the right in response to losses and being voted back in, because Dems didn’t fix shit fast enough.

Press gleefully and willingly promoting ‘both sides same thing’, even as Republicans grow more and more extreme.

The lefter wings marginalizing themselves more and more by starker unwillingness to work with the Dems and liberals for purity’s sake.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression that pushes off people from bothering to vote because of seeming hopelessness.

But no, it must be because the Dems are secret Manchurian Candidates and simply WANT to lurch rightward as a vicious scheme for the corporations and proof that they’re all the same and thus you should dick kick all Dems and refuse to work with them ever.
