No, they aren’t. They’ve got enough influence heretofore to keep others from crossing them outright, but that sort of veto is not being in charge. And that’s the best thing about this idea: Nominating Rubio does not say anything directly about Obama. Thus it presents the loons with a minor challenge and they would have to make it a major one. I believe a great many of them would rather see Obama defeated than make a major issue of it. So they’ll accept Rubio, and in so doing begin the end of the Birthers.

And should they be reluctant to do so, they can simply be reminded that “Right or wrong, the Birther theory’s relevance ends 2012. Either Obama will be defeated or he will have won a second term and be ineligible for a third. So come 2016 the point will be moot. So how about you forget that theory and help me get a good man elected?” (suggested words mine)
