So, this is happening.
DP&L have been planning to shut down two of its coal-fired power plants (one of them had a huge explosion recently) and now Murray Energy (founded by the infamous and current CEO Robert Murray) is asking the State of Ohio to intervene and require DP&L to keep the plants open.

Power struggle

Murray supplies coal to both plants which represented substantial revenue for the company, company officials said.

According to Murray officials, before DP&L’s January (closure) announcement, Murray had been seeking to keep the two power plants open through 2026.

According to the Murray filing with PUCO, Murray says the coal industry has not been properly represented in the proceedings.

“The stipulation and recommendation completely fails to address the staggering adverse closure effects that it unloads upon Murray Energy and the citizens of Ohio,” Murray officials said in its filing. “Rather, it focuses primarily on serving the private self-interests of the parties to the agreement, many of which, including the Sierra Club, appear to stand ready to receive substantial payments under the self-serving agreement.”

According to the proposed settlement announced by DP&L, the company is moving away from coal-fired energy and looking closer into renewable energy resources. The terms of the proposed agreement would require Stuart and Killen to close in mid-2018.

So much bullshit.
