So far he certainly seems to be that smart. Everyone in the GOP is either retiring or paying him obeisance. His fans continue to worship him. We are seriously underestimating him if we really continue to call him a moron. His supporters may be racist morons — but he’s just racist and not a moron.

We were discussing if he thought he could bury all the illegal activities that got him elected and the illegal stuff he did in the past. That is the context of my comment.

If he is convicted or dumped out of office, then he wasn’t that smart was he?

And a dumb ass can still be a great con man.
