And why didn’t Corey take this to a grand jury, as was planned, and secure an indictment that would have put much of this to rest?

I think it’s a bad idea to send the message to a community that armed civilian pursuit of non-suspects is something you can do without fear of punishment.

I have no idea about the DA’s actions. But just look at the Duke rape case, the Kobe Bryant rape case, and hundreds of others where DA’s botched their cases from the get-go. Some are stupid, some want to make a name for themselves, some just bow to public pressure.
