I’m trying to figure out how Shakespeare isn’t multicultural crap, given that most of his plots are from foreign sources and most of them occur in foreign lands, and many of them are about thinking about the roles of outsiders in society, or women challenging gender roles, etc.

Probably the odious shit has no actual knowledge of Shakespeare.

Maybe he just doesn’t think deeply about those plays he has seen. It’s not uncommon for people to never really take the time reflect on the plays and movies they see. Or he simply sees Shakespeare as “English” and thus good, while those things that are cultural imports are “Foreign” and thus bad.
