Used to have a co-worker, was a high school junior, who was entertaining the whole “9/11 conspiracy” BS. I tried a couple times to engage in her debate, even offering to lend her my copy of Popular Mechanic’s book debunking the most prevalent theories, and got nowhere. Her reasoning seemed to be the same as a lot of otherwise reasonable folks who entertain such lunacy: “I just don’t trust the government to tell the truth.”

Yeah, I don’t either, but there are limits to how far I’ll go to hate the government. A conspiracy that supposedly stretched back decades, requiring tens or even hundreds of thousands of conspirators, and operating in absolute secrecy the whole time doesn’t just stretch credibility, it’s draws and quarters it.
