Texas, with their ratio of tax inflows approx. .70 per 1.00 sent to the Feds, and with hundreds of thousands of millionaires, actually is perhaps the only of these states that actually stands a chance of actually being able to pull it off.

Too bad that they’d have to field a new currency (no way in hell will they be allowed to use the US Dollar for their currency-look at the debacle that’s the Euro), new treaties with the rest of the world, field their own military and border patrol (the US will pull all ordinace (nukes included) out of TX is short order), negotiate new broadcast rights/frequencies with the FCC and the ITU, neogtiate thrid/forth/fifth freedoms for their flag carrier - A bankrupt American Airlines - but they’d still have to deal with the US TSA for intercountry fights between the new Republic of Texas and the US-Sorry, guys! - and that’s just for starters.
