The reason he was able to kill his parents was because of the guns in the household. If he hadn’t been talked out of it, guns would have been why he was able to kill far more people at the Walmart. Yes, I feel like your post downplayed that fact, by saying they made it easier. I think they made it possible. Pommeroy lured victims away into the woods, apparently, other children that he could overpower. Guns enabled this boy to kill people rapidly, because that is what guns are designed to do.

This is part of the reason why the debate about guns is not just about responsible gun owners, but the presence of guns in households in the first place. They are dangerous, and in most cases, owning them puts you in more danger than not owning them.
