I think what amuses me is that we had a wave in the previous decade of remakes or straight ports of Japanese horror films that totally changed the genre for awhile. Some of the most iconic horror games of the past 20 years were created by companies and artists from Japan. But yet it’s the diabetes-cute “moe” culture that surprises people the most.
