My issue with Brennan’s tweet is the implication that Trump corrupted Cippolone. Trump might have given the dude a nudge, but you can’t make an ethical person do the things that Cippolone (and Sekulow and many others) take such unethical steps. They were predisposed to it. Much like voters who said that calling Trump and his supporters racist caused them to vote for Trump—they were already heading in that direction.

What needs to be clearly realized is that Trump is just as dishonest as any other Republican. The only difference is that Trump lies about absolutely everything, not just the GOP approved list of party-line lies, and he’s worse at lying than most Republicans.

In other words, Trump (as awful as he is) is not the problem. The problem is Republicans.
