I guess the definition from Merriam Webster doesn’t mean what it means.

Definition of lie

intransitive verb

2 : to create a false or misleading impression - Statistics sometimes lie. - The mirror never lies.

transitive verb
: to bring about by telling lies - He lied his way out of trouble.

Honest question - why are people so stuck on the word ‘lie’? This is starting to feel like “Obama never used the word ‘Terrorism’!”
