I remember the big spike in homelessness starting with the Gramm-Latta budget cuts in 1981 that decimated Section 8 housing assistance.

All of a sudden property owners booted lower income people out of their apartments and tossed them into the streets.

Oh I remember Phil Gramm saying that those people were lazy and Pulpit Pimps like James Robinson said they were “spiritually deficient”.

Oh and ol’ President Pruneface would be droning about how the churches would gladly step in and provide the needy with real help. Of course they didn’t.
