Any white person of my generation who grew up in a house that their parents bought with a US government-backed mortgage was enjoying economic benefits generally denied to blacks at the time.

Anyone from a family which benefited from Depression-era jobs programs, WPA or CCC, also received economic aid that was denied to blacks.
