Even if you buy the idea that maybe there’s a vast interest in not upsetting the religious applecart by revealing we are not alone, most real religions focus on ethics and morals and not on origin stories. Love thy Neighbor works even with aliens.

That’s one I’ve never understood. I’ve talked to Muslims before on the subject, and they conceded it’s entirely possible that God created life elsewhere in the Universe. Indeed, a couple of Muslims I know noted that the Qur’an doesn’t rule out extraterrestrial life, but may in fact even hint at the notion. Buddhists of my acquaintance certainly acknowledge that there may well be life out there that we’re currently unaware of and that maybe one of these days, we’d either find that life or it would find us.

Is it just Christianity that holds that man is the only life in the Universe?
