The love of my life was on a plane traveling to work at Kinder-Morgan at the WTC. I didn’t breathe until I got his message on my pager that he was ok.

I was doing freelance work at a real estate company that was in a building literally in the shadow of WTC. I got the gig from a coder friend of mine that recommended me.

He went into work that morning and we didn’t hear from him after trying to call and text him. We feared the worst, but it turns out he ended up walking across the Williamsburg Bridge and crashing at a friend’s apartment in Brooklyn for three days. We couldn’t get him on the phone because the attack pretty much destroyed cell communications in NYC for a long time. There was a big Verizon ops center in the basement of one of the towers.
