I do not object to belief in demons. I do not object to the power of prayer.

What I do object to is that in no version of the story I have read did anyone think to call a goddamn ambulance.

Story of my mother attending, as a courtesy, a Pentecostal church service with a colleague from work.

Fellow gets “smitten” by the Spirit, as they say, and falls out in the pews. Mother rushes over, tries to stabilize him, and calls out for someone to please “call a goddamned ambulance” for the guy. Thinks he’s having a seizure.
