I guess I have the opposite take on it from people who think that way: It makes the non-goo stage of life the most important part.
It’s interesting, though, that you’ll find theistic types who insist that atheists don’t value human life because we’re just goo, and atheists who insist that theists don’t value human life, because the here and now is just a rehearsal anyway.
Mostly, people believe that The Other doesn’t have Our Values.
