My guess is that human optic “resolution” is still way higher. 8k? 12k? Of course like the audio discussion this has dimensions, resolution is just one measure. Some in production Hollywood think the passive theater screen is going to go away. Think 8k curved jumbotron and atmos audio. Keep that theater experience bigger and better than home.

Sensor resolution/$ is one of the things that kept me from jumping to digital. Looks like anything around 24 mp will make a reasonable print. If I go back to shooting, it will be something like a mirrorless camera used conceptually as a ‘back’ for my lenses—perhaps incorporating a capable bellows for a micro-viewcamera approach.
