That quote from Sanders above, that you shouldn’t base your politics on your color, but rather on how your family is doing - What if your family is doing worse because of your color? It sounds completely tone deaf.

I mean, his narrow focus on inequality between rich and poor is GREAT if there’s no inequality among the races, but there is, and while theoretically fixing income inequality should improve things for all the races, if the racial aspect of inequality is not addressed, you’re failing everyone who isn’t white.

Maybe he was counting on the old “a rising tide lifts all boats” economic thinking.

Which I always wondered about as it keeps all the ships the same size they were before the tide came in.
