There isn’t going to be an immediate fallout from firing Comey, other than a lot of shouting on cable news channels.
But long term? There are a lot of law-enforcement types who just rocked back on their heels today, and then nodded.
“OK, then. If that’s how we’re going to play this.”
Trump and the nutbar Deplorables are just a small fraction. They cannot organize all this by themselves. And a long, slow, painful investigation into Trump is pretty much inevitable now. Law enforcement knows how to do this.
It’s the same playbook we use when going after a high-line drug dealer. You just start grinding on the fucker. Keep the pressure up. Eventually, they crack.
