re: #116 nowherenorth2

I have been reading up on this lately. Big issues with upper management, over pricing guitars (the new modern flying v ie msrp at 4500), not listenijg to or innovating with demand, and poor quality control as of late.

I personally think there are more guitarists and musicians but they are going for quality and price point and also buying based on their music, such as music mans and strandbergs or mayones. On top of that, more independent companies are out and giving far more qualityguitars for a lower price point.

That is exactly what happened in my opinion. And it is sad because just as you say, a good guitar can be built for less cost and Gibson could do it too.

I know a guy that runs a pretty solid guitar shop here in Columbus and he has said for a good 20 years or so that Gibsons need to be completely set-up when you buy one as they come from the factory with poor intonation, fret dressing, string height, neck curvature etc.
