AND: there are a non-trivial number of wingnuts who get seriously bent-out-of-shape over Black History Month, too: especially if it veers away from the blandest sort of “Great Accomplishment” thumbsucking, and, you know, actually examines actual American attitudes towards Black folks….

But Pride Month has to do with TEH GHEY!!11!!1!, which still pushes a lot of peoples’ buttons. We can (rightly) mock the wingers gibbering away about “proselytizing Oreos” or whatever, but sex/sexual identity stuff still hits uncomfortably home for too many.
Especially when they just have to throw GOD!!!! into it…..

Well, you see, they MUST fight the gay because their all-loving, all-powerful, completely just, god will indiscriminately kill EVERYONE INCLUDING CHRISTIANS if the US continues to accept gays (and abortion). It’s right there in the book.
Of course, the rest of us actually will be harmed by climate change which they refuse to accept. Until they eventually twist it around to be the means by which their god is destroying the earth because of human depravity.
