What have they done to deserve that money?

If you can’t answer the question then how is it punishing them to take it from them?

They don’t have to do anything to keep that money. Their parents gift that money to them, as is their right.

In any event, there are mechanisms now that beat the death taxes- from trusts to gifting prior to death, etc.

Truth be told, death taxes don’t affect the rich, just the Middle Class.
