Sadly, that is the piece that’s missing; the generous and well-publicized resources for women who don’t choose abortion.

Where services are available, they are insufficient in many cases; and very often there is little to no publicizing of their availability and so people don’t know who to contact.

The best of these alternate services (at least in my area, and perhaps others as well) are provided by Catholic Charities. Their counseling and birth or adoption prep services for expectant moms are free of charge; they work with a state’s local Dept of Social Services to assist with governmental services that are available; and they operate on a shoestring budget, not much leftover for advertising.

Honestly, I’d like to see some publicizing about why not to get pregnant unless you are prepared to raise or give-up the child. We can’t afford all services as it is. I’ve ranted about this before, but there are sooo many women who think nothing of getting their milk, bread, eggs etc with tax-payer money. I don’t want any child to need, but we can’t continue this trend. Most of these women are working full-time and still need our help.
