We’re lucky everyone’s economy is so interconnected with and interdependent on everyone else’s. Shooting wars between economic powerhouses just aren’t attractive to anybody anymore.

Don’t forget there was a good deal of interconnection between the European economies prior to WWI; it didn’t stop them from marching off to annihilation.

Sometimes, people get these ideas into their heads and just say, “Fuck it….let’s kill ‘em all” and the next thing you know, armies are being mobilized, bombs are falling and the bullets are flying.

Or as Stephen King once put it, “The red balloon goes up and the Big Hot One gets started.”
