This is an old joke so stop me if you’ve heard it.

There was a Jewish man and an Asian man who were both named Sean Ferguson. How did that happen? They were standing in line at Ellis Island. The Jewish man did not speak English but he had been told “At Ellis Island they will ask you where you’re from, what’s your name, and where do you intend to live.”

The Jewish man kept repeating the 3 questions to himself in Yiddish, from, name, where. But when he got to the head of the line instead of asking “where are you from?” they asked him “What’s your name?” He got confused and blurted out “Oy ich hob shoyn fergessen!” (I forgot already). The immigration officer wrote down “Sean Ferguson” stamped his papers and waved him on.

When it was the Asian man’s turn they asked “What’s your name” and he said “Sam Ting”
