Yeah it does make sense in those states. Maryland was a border state too. Pennsylvania though? A state that banned slavery fairly early on and was founded by Quakers though.

Yeah, but then there’s some in Minnesota, too. A state that joined the United States during the war, then turned around and immediately sent two tiny volunteer regiments - one of which would go on to serve with the highest distinction at Gettysburg. And yet, I’ve seen Confederate flags and bumper stickers out in the sticks up here.
