I’ve been led to believe that the social aspects in earliest decades of Christianity involved dining as guests of friends and family, etc. It’s a tradition that appears to have been embraced by modern polititians, but the events are called fundraisers.

Early Christians shared everything they had with each other - homes, food, income from jobs. It was exactly like a commune, except it actually worked. For a time, until religious schisms destroyed the whole thing.
