I was in Arizona one christmas break as a kid. …it rained and snowed. Still, that would be a fun road trip, and I could probably deal with desert camping.
Most of the Lake Michigan shoreline I’m familiar with is too close to cities (particularly the dunes - Gary to the left, Michigan City to the right, and Chicago skyline just barely peeking over the west horizon) but it’s a long coast and I should see what there is further north.
This was camping up in the forest on Arizona’s Mogollon Rim at 5,000 feet elevation.
And I grew up in Gary, so you can imagine what sort of skies I was used to.
