That whole “slap in the face” argument is just so damn stupid. One of the things I hate most about my generation (Boomers) is how many of us simply assume that the world that young people face today is the same one that they entered as young adults, where a college degree got you a good job in your field that provided healthcare, and that if you went to a state school in your own state it was practically free, and that you could ‘work your way through school’.

Christ, today you could come out the other end of 4 years in a state school in California with $80,000 in debt!

I came out of college in 1977 and had a damn hard time finding any job let alone a good pay job. I didn’t find a yellow brick road of prosperity waiting.
