Everyone knows that true patriotism is wearing an American flag pin on your jacket lapel.
Richard Nixonโs campaign made it so, to contrast from unpatriotic liberals. We know how patriotic Richard Nixon was.
Not many people dress up in anything beyond farm clothes here. When I sat on the village board I would either use my Gold Star Family pin or my Navy Achievement Medal lapel pin. I also wear them at formal functions such as the village Memorial Day service or the county Veterans Day service, or the village Independence Day parade.
I never wear a flag pin.
