Stephen Spielburg presents a three movie epic:
Rock - A new strata
Paper - The wrapper strikes back
Scissors - Return of the cutlery
Anecdote:
My brother and I do RPS to decide who picks up tabs after dinners, bar bills, and other miscellaneous decisions of that sort.
So, soon after he got married a RPS decision came up between him and his wife (who is a Chinese-descent Malaysian from Kuala Lumpor). So they did RPS and instead of a “normal” rock, paper, or scissor sign she did one my brother did not know.
Brother: “What’s that?”
S-in-law: “Bird. It drinks water (their equiv of paper), and it beaten by rock. (So it’s a Scissor equivalent.)
Brother (humorously): Bird?!? So it loses to all of them. Rock crushes bird, Scissors cut bird up. Paper wraps it for market.
Story proceeds to end in an unamused sister-in-law…
But not that “rock” appears to retain it’s universal appeal.
