No, Texas gave him what he wanted—I quoted Brewer last night saying he preferred death to life in prison. He should have been deprived of that, to protect the fairly rare innocent convict.

When I said he got better than he deserved I meant they should have strapped him to the back of a state highway dept. truck and dragged him across the state. I’m not necessarily against the DP (the planet would be better off with some people not on it), I just don’t trust our judicial system enough to believe only the truly guilty get the DP. In this case, Brewer was truly guilty.
