One of my friends is steadfully anti-minimum wage. Seems oblivious to the fact that it’s good for pretty much everyone to have a decent wage.
There is a lot of talk about “the dignity of labor” and the social value it provides, remember Ronnie Reagan’s “The best social program you can offer someone is a job”?
(right before he cut funds for job training programs)
But part of the “dignity of labor” is being able to raise, feed and educate a family on one’s wages.
Sorry, people, labor is just another cost factor like staples or toner cartridges. A bulk commodity that is traded as cheaply as possible. And when you are no longer needed, you are cut.
