A few years back, Democrats essentially called the GOP’s bluff on the whole “Estate Tax Harms Farmers and Small Businesses!!” ruse, by crafting a bill for exclusions from the Estate Tax that would eliminate pretty much all farms and small businesses.

Nope. GOP wouldn’t pass it, because it’s not about farms and small businesses. We have one party in favor of establishing a moneyed aristocracy.

The estate tax is the single best tax we have in the system, except that I doubt it’s actually being collected on massive fortunes like the Waltons etc.

GOP whining about the family farm and the little guy is obviated by the fact that it only kicks in above several million dollars.

To be blunt, why on earth shouldn’t massive amounts of unearned income be taxed?
