The big myth about the 2016 presidential election was that economic suffering drove most of Donald Trump’s “base” directly into his hands in states such as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Right, that was the myth that the press bought into, in an effort to “normalize” his election by insisting that he was just an outgrowth of a “populist movement.”
