re: #189 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

I have never visited a prostitute. Not out of any moral issues I have with the practice. It is decriminalized here and the nearest establishment is all of 20 minutes from where I live.

Mostly because I am too cheap to pay upfront for sex, secondly because I am really not interested in having sex with someone who is only interested in financial gain and not in me as a person at all.

But most of all, because I know that the woman is not going to be the main person benefiting from the financial aspect; she will have to pay her pimp or the brother owner or in some places, bribe the police.

Even here where it is decriminalized, it is not legal in the sense that a prostitute can press charges for failure to pay as it is still considered an immoral act for which no legal contract can be concluded. So she has to hire the services of an enforcer.

And most of the girls doing it are foreigners from Asia or Eastern Europe who are obviously being somehow forced or manipulated into it. I wish to be no part of that, either.

All this is why decriminalization, as opposed to legalization, is not really an answer. It allows the business to be conducted openly but leaves those involved with no protection from trafficking and exploitation. Prostitution is fully legal, though highly regulated, in a few places.
