re: #180 Land Shark
I believe if black people don’t want others to use the “N” word, they shouldn’t use it themselves. I don’t call other white people “honkie” or “cracker.”
However, whether they use the “N” word among themselves or not, I have no desire or intention of using it. It’s a word that was meant to hurt and cause offense, something I don’t wish to do. I’m no racist and I don’t want people thinking I am. That’s the bottom line to me.
Totally agree with you since I am hispanic and have been called lots of names before. I would never use it and if I tried when I was growning up my mom would have back handed me across the room. My point was the whole hypocrisy of it. Use it between people of the same race = OK, someone outside the race uses the same term in the same context (heard it on the streets ) = offended.
