I think you’re right, but I’m not going to count on it.

I’ll hope for it, mind you. It’s coat tails. (which, by the way, is one of the reasons I’m not counting on it.) The lethargy of the primary/caucus turnout, if echoed in the general, makes the US “dangerously” democratic, “saved” only by a filibuster minority in the Senate.

But I’m going to expect, instead, that there will be a few more Republicans in the senate and a few more Democrats in the house, with both retaining their current majorities, and President Obama serving a second term after a small but definite victory.

Followed by four more years of a completely constipated Congress that will block any initiatives he tries to move forward, often simply because he is Obama.
