They’re called hatcheries. I remember visiting them in grade school.

Hatcheries release fish back into the wild. Grew up near two of them…weren’t allowed to fish within a half mile of their fish ladders.

Farms feed their fish pellets that contain everything from corn meal (not normally found in the pacific or atlantic oceans) to animal parts discarded by chicken processors (also not something fish eat in the wild).
