I generally think Dunham is kind of self absorbed and rather irritating, even as I recognize she has a certain level of writing talent, is clearly driven, organized, and has earned her level of professional success.

This is her Obama ate dog meat moment. The right doesn’t give a shit about the context or how old she was when it happened. She’s confessing to something that they never, ever would confess to. And many of the people condemning her, I’m certain, have much more egregious and horrible skeletons in their closets.

It didn’t help that Bennie’s little truthy site first staged their outrage with the misinformation that she was 17, not 7, when it happened.

I’m not a Lena Dunham fan—I think she is talented, but a total attention-seeker, and I’m guessing she included some of the “outrageous” anecdotes in her book just to troll.

Also—are the rightwingers really slow readers? The book’s been out for more than a month. Why are they losing their shit about it now?
