That’s a new one. In law school I heard someone at a Federalist Society event argue for repealing the 17th Amendment (popular election of Senators), but actually trying to repeal women’s suffrage? Damn

Wanting to repeal the 17th amendment is now part of RWNJ dogma (for those that can count that high). I’ve never understood why it’s so much better for a state legislature to pick Senators than for the people to vote on it.

My best guess is that it is a consequence of RWNJ neo-Confederacy, where any opportunity to increase ‘states rights’ is taken, no matter how asinine.
