My Dad’s uncle was a chaplain during WWII. I’m not religious at all but no doubt that had to test his faith being the last face and voice many of those young men saw and heard. It’s no wonder to me that Uncle Bill struggled with alcoholism. I don’t know if he had a problem with alcohol before the war or not but I’m sure even if he did, the war accelerated it.
