Okay, Podhoretz expressed it badly, but he does point to something that has long been true in our society - people who don’t marry their High School Sweetheart, or their College Sweetheart, tend to meet the person they marry at their workplace. Since most folks spend at least 1/2 of their waking hours there, it’s probably their largest social interaction (especially if, like me, you’re introverted and get ‘peopled out’ by the end of a work day)

While we rightly recognize that power relationships complicate the very concept of consent, we can’t all find the person we want outside the workplace, or outside of our reporting tree.

This is what I mean when I say things are a spectrum. At one end you have Weinstein. At the other you have a thoroughly consensual relationship between coworkers at the same level. In between you have literally every workplace relationship, and that’s a LARGE percentage of all relationships. I feel like this is an under-addressed aspect of the whole thing.
