Damn, my best friend for over 50 years is in the hospital with Covid. He’s obese, had a heart attack recently and is still recovering from that. He’s been sick for 2 weeks already and his breathing problems have worsened to the point of hospitalization. This timeline sucks. Can we have a reboot?

Sorry to hear that. One of my best buddies, an American expat living in Zurich, just reported this week that his wife and daughter both have Covid. Not hospitalized at all, both are young and healthy.
