Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area. So, Trump’s nonsensical ravings at a rally revealed that he’s who he’s always been. He’s an egotistical know nothing who panders to like minded people.

It’s a one trick pony whose trick fascinates his supporters, but no one else.

Trump went to Arizona to talk about Confederate flags and statues, as though that’s something that they’d know about as Southern heritage. Except that it isn’t. This is heritage common to the “modern” GOP - defending the statues of insurrectionists who lost the war of Southern Insurrection so that they can protect their right to own slaves. The same goes with the Confederate flag that so many right wingers wave around - as though it’s some heritage to be proud of.

That’s a flag of hate and bigotry. More importantly, it’s the flag of the losers of the Civil War (that they started). The same people who bitch about giving kids participation trophies when they lose are the ones complaining loudest that the statues to the losing side of the Civil War might be taken down because of political pressure (when they were erected by pandering white supremacists to keep blacks in their place). That’s why there are Confederate statues erected in the oddest of places - to warn blacks not to go there. It has a chilling effect on minorities who suffered at the hands of white supremacists and bigots who saw their power diminished as a result of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act that helped secure minority voting and civil rights.

Trump is ushering in a wholesale attack on civil and voting rights (among other things), but he’s just the loudest/brashest voice from the GOP that has been assaulting both for decades now.
